The pain that will not close, no matter how hard you push.

The deepest stage, and the one most women get stuck in. Not because they are doing too little.

You are here

You have been treating a loss like a problem to be solved, when it can only be grieved. That is why building the case never eases it. The full stage shows you how to meet a loss, and how to seal what cannot be undone.

What this stage actually is

You have been pulling the wrong thread.

You are in grief, and you have probably been trying to resolve it as though it were an injury, by gathering evidence, re-litigating, waiting for accountability. But what you have lost cannot be un-happened, and no amount of proof closes it. That is why the file never shuts. You are applying anger’s completion to a loss that only answers to being met.

The tool that fits

Grief completes by being met, not won. Where the boundary cannot be restored backward, make restoration present-tense: decide what you will and will not let occupy you, refuse the other person continued tenancy in your head, and put the record somewhere outside yourself so your mind can stop holding the open loop. Then let the grief be tended rather than prosecuted, by another person or by you, turned gently inward.

Why it never arrives alone

One feeling, several strands.

Whatever is loudest right now, an injury or a loss, is telling the truth about something real. What it does not tell you is how many things are underneath it. Most separations are several injuries and several losses braided together, arriving as one feeling.

You untangle it a strand at a time. Name one piece, work out whether that piece is an injury or a loss, and give it the thing it actually answers to. An injury closes through discharge plus restoring the boundary. A loss closes only through being met and tended. Give either one the other’s medicine and it tightens instead of easing.

That is also why your check can name a thread and a stage that seem not to match. The gap is the finding, not a fault in the result. Run the check again on the next piece whenever one flares.

This is a taste of the full stage

You have just read the recognition and the tool. The complete stage takes it further: how to steady the body before you do the work, the whole stage in its proper shape, and a worksheet to work it through. It lives inside the Two Threads programme.
